KT Rama Rao (KTR), the working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), let Mallikarjun Kharge, the President of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), know about the demolition of 75 houses in Christianpally village, Mahabubnagar, on Wednesday night.

KTR asked Kharge to advise the Telangana government to halt these demolitions.

Kharge had previously criticised BJP state governments on X, accusing them of using demolitions as a way to intimidate minorities.

KTR pointed out that 25 of the people affected were disabled and shared a video showing two disabled individuals upset, with former Mahabubnagar MLA V Srinivas Goud trying to console them.

Kharge described the demolitions as “cruel and unfair” and condemned the targeting of minorities in BJP-ruled states.

His comments came after a similar incident in Madhya Pradesh, where police demolished the home of a local leader, Shahzad Ali, following a violent clash in Chhatarpur district on August 21.

Both the BJP and Congress have denied any connection to Shahzad and have shifted the blame.
