Rajiv Gandhi International Airport Wins CII National Awards - ‘National Energy Leader’ & ‘Excellent Energy Efficient Unit’

Hyderabad: Rajiv Gandhi International Airport Limited (RGIA) has been honored with the esteemed titles of "National Energy Leader" and "Excellent Energy Efficient Unit" at the 25th National Award Ceremony for 'Excellence in Energy Management,' at an event organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in recently. It has received the "National Energy Leader" accolade for the sixth consecutive year and the "Excellent Energy Efficient Unit" distinction for the eighth time.

The airport managed by GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd, is known for its sustainable practices and dedication to energy conservation. The airport's ongoing initiatives to minimise its carbon footprint and enhance energy efficiency through innovative strategies have garnered recognition from industry experts. Over the years, the airport operations have resulted in significant energy savings of around 1.82 million units (MU). RGIA is a proud Carbon Neutral Airport, having received Level 4 plus ‘Neutrality’ Accreditation from the Airports Council International as part of its Airport Carbon Accreditation programme.

The airport harnesses the power of green energy through a combination of its own 10 MWp (megawatt peak) solar power plant and green energy supplied by TGSPDCL. Hyderabad Airport has repeatedly shown its dedication to energy efficiency and sustainability.
