Visakhapatnam: TDP national president N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday urged the people of Andhra Pradesh to dislodge what he termed the 'corrupt and opportunistic' YSRCP Government headed by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in the Assembly elections due next year.

Addressing a zonal level meeting of party activists here, he said the Chief Minister had gone back on his election-eve promise of imposing phase-wise total prohibition and developing the State. "Not a single brick has been laid for Bhogapuram International Airport for which land acquisition was almost completed during the TDP regime. We signed MoUs envisaging an investment of Rs 16.5 lakh crore during three editions of Partnership Summit but they cancelled agreement with LuLu Group for an international convention centre. Franklin Templeton, a Fortune 500 company, has also not set up its campus," he stated.

In an oblique reference to the three-capital issue, he said the TDP Government was firm on making Visakhapatnam the financial capital and a world-class tourism and IT hub. "We allotted Rs 1,600 crore for irrigation projects in North Andhra whereas the YSRCP Government has sanctioned less than Rs.450 crore. Uttarandhra Sujala Sravanthi has still remained on paper," he pointed out.

Hitting out at Jagan Mohan Reddy, he said he is making frequent visits to Delhi not for getting any project for Andhra Pradesh but to bail out MP YS Avinash Reddy from the murder case of his uncle YS Vivekananda Reddy. He said during the past four years, not a single major project has been grounded by the State Government.

Stating that the recent victory of TDP in three graduate constituency MLC seats and one seat under MLA quota was just a 'trailer' for a landslide win in the 2024 elections. He said after the setback in MLC polls, the Chief Minister has started talking politely with his MLAs at review meetings. He said there was overwhelming response to 'Badude Badude' and 'Idi Emi Karma' campaigns taken up by TDP across the State.

Asking party cadres to work sincerely to expose the failures of the government and keep in touch with them regularly at the grassroots, he said all the sincere workers will be recognised when the TDP formed the government.

Among others, TDP State president K. Atchan Naidu, former Union Minister P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju, senior leaders Ch Ayyanna Patrudu, Palla Srinivasa Rao, K Pratibha Bharati, MLAs VRK Babu and P Ganna Babu were present.
