AP govt school students invited to the World Bank

A government school delegation of 10 students, two teachers and two senior officials from Andhra Pradesh recently visited the World Bank at Washington DC, as part of their tour to the US and United Nations.

Besides being invited for an informal lunch, the students participated in a session on Education and Health with leading World Bank officials including Rifat Hasan, Lead Health Specialist; Tracy Wilichowski, World Bank Analyst and Laura Gregory, Senior Education Specialist. B Srinivasa Rao State Project Director, Samagra Siksha along with Rathnakar Pandugayala, represented the State government.

At the onset of the engagement, the World Bank lauded the initiatives taken up by AP CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy in the field of education, which includes State-run initiatives AmmaVodi, Nadu-Nedu and the introduction of English and the usage of bilingual textbooks. “The World Bank has expressed their deep desire to get more involved in YSRCP government’s objective to invest in human capital,” the State government official said in a statement.
