EMS Limited Becomes L1 Bidder In Rs681-Crore Tender by Kolkata Municipal Corporation

Hyderabad: Ghazibad-based EMS Ltd on Friday announced emerging as L1 (Lowest Bidder) for an Rs 681.49 crore contract floated by Kolkata Municipal Corporation. The tender is towards undertaking pollution abatement work to rejuvenate the River Adi Ganga in Kolkata, West Bengal. EMS will hold a 74 per cent share in the project, with a JV partner holding the remaining 26 per cent.

As part of the contract, EMS will design, build, test, and commission the infrastructure required to reduce pollution in the River Adi Ganga within three years. The scope of work will also involve handling Operations and Management (O&M) of Sewage Treatment Plants and associated infrastructure in Adi Ganga for 15 years after the project's completion.

Ramveer Singh, Chairman, EMS Limited, said, “We are delighted to have emerged as the L1 for this tender floated by KMC, which is also the biggest since our inception. It is a very prestigious project for us and marks the expansion of our presence to eastern India – to the state of West Bengal.”

The Company’s Board also approved raising funds - not exceeding Rs. 400 crore through Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP). A QIP committee will be set up to handle all matters pertaining to the proposed fundraising.

“The funds raised through QIP would enable us to participate in and execute multiple projects going forward, therefore expanding our order book and the scale of operations to evolve into a larger and more profitable company,” Mr. Singh added.
