Hyderabad: Dana Kishore, Managing Director of the Musi Riverfront Development Corporation, has said that about 1,600 private constructions located within the Musi riverbed have been identified through a survey as part of the river’s beautification project.

He said that a detailed action plan has been developed by the Musi Riverfront Development Corporation to remove these structures. In line with the Chief Minister’s directives, every displaced family will be provided with double-bedroom housing as part of a rehabilitation programme. The State government has allocated nearly 15,000 double-bedroom houses to rehabilitate the families residing in the Musi riverbed and its buffer zone.

Further, Dana Kishore issued instructions to District Collectors, asking them to design guidelines for the rehabilitation plan for those affected by the constructions within the riverbed. He emphasised that the removal of these constructions will only begin after the displaced families have been relocated into the allotted double-bedroom houses.

Additionally, proposals have been submitted to the government regarding land acquisition and rehabilitation in the buffer zone, in accordance with the Land Acquisition and Rehabilitation Act. The process of acquiring land will commence only after government approval and compensation are provided to the affected individuals as per legal guidelines.

Dana Kishore also urged the displaced residents within the Musi River vicinity not to harbour unnecessary concerns. He reassured that all eligible individuals would be rehabilitated properly and no one would be left out of the process.
