Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh government announced the formation of a special task force to accelerate industrial development in the States after Tata Group Chairman Natarajan Chandrasekhar and Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) Chandrajit Banerjee called on Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at his chambers separately on Friday.

As Naidu has launched an exercise to attract investments to the State, the TDP-led NDA government has decided to constitute a special task force to provide suggestions to the government on industrial development and building Swarna Andhra Pradesh. As part of the discussion, it was decided to establish a development centre by the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in Visakhapatnam, the city projected to be developed as the financial capital of the State and a Centre for Global Leadership on Competitiveness (GLC) at Amaravati.

Chandrasekharan and Naidu discussed investments in the State. Both also paid attention to industrial development and building Swarna Andhra Pradesh with Vision-2047.

Since the prolonged talks ultimately turned fruitful, the State government decided to constitute a special task force to provide suggestions on how to go ahead with this and also formulate necessary plans to implement these suggestions. The task force will be constituted with the Chief Minister as the Chairman, Chandrasekharan as the Co-Chairman along with famous industrialists and experts in the relevant sectors.

Since the State government is planning to take Andhra Pradesh to No. 1 position in the country by 2027 with the Vision-2047, the task force will mainly focus on the steps to be taken to achieve this goal. The State government also decided to establish the Centre for Global Leadership in Amaravati with the active partnership of which the Tata Group will become a partner.

A TCS Development Centre will be set up in the port city of Visakhapatnam and the Chief Minister also discussed with the Tata Group Chairman on the possibilities of the expansion of the Air India and Vistara Airlines in the State. This apart, Naidu held discussions with him on establishing solar, telecommunication and food processing units in the State.

Naidu also had a productive meeting with a delegation from the CII headed by its Director General Chandrajit Banerjee. “We discussed the establishment of a Centre for Global Leadership on Competitiveness (GLC) in Amaravati by the CII,” Naidu stated in a posting on X (erstwhile Twitter).

He said the Government of Andhra Pradesh (GoAP) and CII are planning to establish a GoAP-CII Industry Forum to implement the recommendations of the task force on economic development.

“Additionally, we will focus on enhancing the skills and employability of the youth of Andhra Pradesh through initiatives like the CII Multi Skill Training Institute (MSTI) and CII Model Career Centre (MCC),” he said.
