Sri City hosts talk on personality development

Hyderabad: Sri City, a smart integrated business city, said its spiritual and literary forum, Srivani hosted a lecture by Dr Gangisetti Lakshminarayana of the National Sanskrit University, Tirupati. The talk, centered on personality development drew upon wisdom of the Vedas, Puranas, and other ancient scriptures.

In his talk, Dr Lakshminarayana highlighted the significance of Vedic knowledge in personal growth. He emphasised that mantras, as presented in ancient texts, serve as keys to development. He highlighted Prithvi Sukta from the Atharva Veda, which ignites a sense of patriotism.

The lecture also touched upon the Sanatana system of education, particularly the Guru-Shishya relationship as described in the Shiksha Valli of the Taittiriya Upanishad.

In an anecdote from the Timmarasu story, he illustrated the lesson that one can grow without causing harm to others. Drawing from Srimad Ramayana and Kalidasa’s Raghuvamsa, Dr Lakshminarayana emphasised the virtues of humility and obedience. Concluding his lecture, Dr Lakshminarayana asserted that ancient poets and writers crafted their works not merely for entertainment, but to guide society and individuals towards leading meaningful and exemplary lives. After the lecture, Dr Lakshminarayana delivered motivational talk exclusively for the senior class students of Chinmaya Vidyalaya.
