Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, joined by AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi, inaugurated the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the Old City metro line, which will connect MGBS and Falaknuma on Friday, March 8.

This crucial 5.5 km segment constitutes a significant part of the corridor II green line stretching from JBS to Falaknuma. The ambitious project aims for completion within five years, with an estimated budget of Rs 2000 crores, as announced by the chief minister during the event.

Underlining the Old City's significance in Hyderabad's landscape, Revanth Reddy emphasized the Congress party's commitment to its advancement and urged all parties to unite towards this objective.

The proposed metro rail route will pass through several pivotal areas including Darulshifa, Puranihaveli, Etebarchowk, Alijakotla, Mir Momin Daira, Haribowli, Shalibanda, Shamsheergunj, Aliabad, ultimately reaching Falaknuma Metro Rail station. Notably, four stations are planned along this route, namely Salarjung Museum, Charminar, Shalibanda, and Falaknuma, highlighting their historical significance despite being situated around 500 meters away from the monuments.

HMRL MD NVS Reddy assured minimal disruption to religious or heritage structures, emphasizing ongoing engineering endeavors to ensure the project's smooth progression while respecting cultural sensitivities.

Additionally, plans include extending the line by an extra 1.5 km from Falaknuma to Chandrayangutta, with Chandrayangutta envisioned as a crucial interchange station on the proposed Airport line, connecting Nagole, LB Nagar, Chandrayangutta, Mailardevpally, P7 Road, and Shamshabad Airport.

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi pledged his party's cooperation with the state government in fostering the city's development, stressing the importance of collaborative efforts to propel Hyderabad forward.
