August 23 Declared National Space Day by India

India is celebrating its first National Space Day on August 23, themed “Touching Lives While Touching the Moon: India's Space Saga,” as reported by ANI.

The date commemorates India's lunar exploration milestone, with the Chandrayaan-3 rover landing on the Moon on August 23, 2023.

This achievement made India the fourth country to land on the Moon and the first to reach the lunar South Pole.

President Droupadi Murmu, Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, and ISRO Chairman S. Somanath attended an exhibition at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, showcasing space technologies.

President Murmu awarded winners of ISRO's Robotics Challenge and Bharatiya Antariksh Hackathon.

ISRO Chairman Somanath highlighted the nationwide celebrations involving various institutions and public participation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has officially designated August 23 as National Space Day to honor this historic accomplishment.
