Amaravati: In significant development, leading search engine Google and Andhra Pradesh Government will be launching a joint campaign to popularise artificial intelligence (AI) applications in agriculture and other fields, an MoU to this effect will be signed soon under the initiative ‘AI for Andhra Pradesh, Powered by Google.’

Terming it a ‘comprehensive partnership,’ a senior official of the IT Department said it will encompass AI applications in agriculture in addition to healthcare, and sustainability as well as skill development, startup ecosystems, AI workforce cultivation, MSME support through digital credit and AI-driven governance.

Terming the conference between the government and the top honchos of Google and YouTube on Tuesday as a vital development in its digital journey, the official said it will help achieve rapid strides in multiple fields.

Led by tech-savvy Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, the meeting explored strategic collaborations to accelerate the State’s technological advancement.

Union Civil Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu and key representatives from Google, including Neal Mohan, Global CEO of YouTube; Sanjay Gupta, President, Asia Pacific Region at Google; Leslie Miller, Global VP YouTube and Sreenivasa Reddy, Managing Director, Government Affairs, India and others took part in the interaction.

In a message on Wednesday, Naidu said, “I’m committed to transforming Andhra Pradesh into India’s tech capital and enthusiastic about the prospects of partnering with global tech pioneers.”

Rammohan Naidu said on the ‘groundbreaking’ discussions held on Tuesday said, “We are set to establish the pioneering YouTube Academy in Andhra Pradesh, as part of the upcoming Media City in Amaravati. The academy will be a beacon of opportunity, providing comprehensive skill development programs for aspiring content creators. It will be a hub for innovation, knowledge exchange, and high quality content production.”

The focus of the meeting was to identify opportunities where the State and tech leaders could collaborate. Discussions included digital infrastructure enhancement, skill development, and leveraging technology for efficient governance.

Chief Minister Naidu underscored the State’s dedication to fostering a thriving environment for technological innovation. “Andhra Pradesh is on a trajectory to become India’s digital epicenter, and we are enthused about the prospects of partnering with global pioneers like Google and YouTube,” Naidu affirmed.
