Anurag Varsity hosts 17th annual day

Hyderabad: Anurag University recently held its 17th Annual Day at its campus in Medipally. Chief guest for the event Padmashri awardee Gaddam Sammaiah, a Chindu Yakshaganam theatre artist from Jangoan in Telangana addressed the gathering of over 6,000. Students were recognised for their academic achievement as well for out-of-classroom activities.

Dr Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, founder of Anurag Group shared 25 years journey of the institution. Prof S Ramachandram, Vice Chancellor highlighted the importance of developing an all-round personality for students. Dr Balaji Utla, Registrar presenting the annual report said the University stands within a ranking range of 101-150, in the Engineering category. The University has 11,000 students, 504 faculty members of which 200 hold doctorates.

The University in an official release said that it has established a DST-funded laboratory on “Programmable wood-processing tools” under the DST- STI Hub scheme, Government of India. It has also established Research Centres in various departments to promote collaborative research such as the Centre for VLSI chip design- ECE, with investment of Rs 32.4 lakh; the Centre for Renewable Energy and Sustainable Transportation with Rs 14 lakh, and the Centre for Environmental Sustainability with Rs 22 lakh.

Highlighting faculty advancements, Dr Utla informed that P Raja Sekhar Reddy has been approved a $10,000 grant from IBM under the IBM Watson Generative AI Faculty Award, and Dr A Mallikarjuna Reddy has received German Patent Grant for his work, and Dr V Vishnu Vandana, HoD, School of Management, has received a grant of Rs 13 lakh for a programme.

The University further informed that it had received research grants to the tune of Rs147 lakh for the academic year 2023-2024. A total of four Research grants were approved from various government agencies for research in the fields of engineering, pharmacy and management. A total of 223 research papers were published in reputed national and international journals.
