Telangana Appoints Foreign Consultants To Aid MSMEs

They will focus on developing strategies, building capacity, and upgrading technology, says Telangana Minister IT Sridhar Babu

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has launched a multi-faceted initiative to foster the growth and development of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the State. As part of this comprehensive plan, the government has appointed foreign consultants to provide strategic guidance, capacity building support, and technological upgrading to MSMEs. During an industry interaction with the Hyderabad chapter of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Sridhar Babu in his keynote address said that the appointed foreign consultants will be working on strategy development, capacity building, and technological upgrading, to benefit MSMEs in Telangana.

The other measures taken up by the government to boost the State’s economy and create new job opportunities, includes setting up a Rs 100 crore Yantram Fund to push MSMEs to adopt technology, establishing a Skills University and setting up of two dry ports. The IT minister further said that the Skilling University, driven by the industry and facilitated by the government, will train the unskilled, semi-skilled and upskill the skilled. On a plan to set up two dry ports in Telangana, he informed it will boost trade and commerce in the region, particularly in the areas of cargo handling and logistics.

Sridhar Babu also mentioned his plan to clear industrial subsidies in phase-wise manner, and other necessary support to industrial units.

Dr G Malsur, Director for Industries, Telangana spoke about the MoU signed between the government and National Small Industries Corporation to promote entrepreneurship by providing financial assistance to MSMEs in the state.

Sai D Prasad, Chairman, CII Telangana delivered the welcome address, while R S Reddy, Vice Chairman, CII Telangana presented concluding remarks. The CII member urged the Minister to allocate land for construction of around 27 new ESI Dispensaries that has been recently allotted by ESI Corporation at various industrial areas. Reddy also made a submission to permit more than one MW of captive power in order to meet ESG goals.
