Gold futures increased Rs59 to Rs77,120 per 10 grams in futures trade as speculators created po-sitions on a firm spot demand. Silver futures slipped Rs199 to Rs90,984 per kilogram as partici-pants reduced their bets.
On Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold contracts for February delivery traded higher by Rs59 or 0.08 per cent at Rs77,120 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 13,264 lots. Fresh positions built up by participants led to a rise in gold prices, analysts said. Globally, gold futures declined 0.07 per cent to $2,654.69 per ounce in New York.
