Missile expert Sheena Rani from the Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO) spearheaded the team responsible for India's Agni-5 missile test. This launch is the first to feature advanced technology involving Milv or Multiple Independently Targetable Reentry vehicles. Sheena attended college for computer science, electronics, and communications and is a program director at the Advanced Systems Laboratory of DRDO in Hyderabad.
Hailing from Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram region, it is Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, who is known as the 'Missile man of India', who is said to have influenced Sheena Rani's childhood fantasy of growing up to be a scientist. Keyword Sheena began working at Vikram Sarabhai Space Center (VSSC), the country's leading institution for rocketry application in the commercial sphere, where she spent 8 years polishing her skills.
Now, under her guidance and with her capabilities, India has become only the sixth country in the world, along with the USA, China, UK, France and Russia, that possesses the ability to operate MIRV missile systems, demonstrating India's missile development.
