Sharmila Tagore praises auto driver who saved Saif Ali Khan after knife attack

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan reunited with Bhajan Singh Rana, the auto-rickshaw driver who rushed him to the hospital following a violent knife attack at his Mumbai home. The heartfelt meeting occurred on Tuesday before Saif was discharged from Lilavati Hospital. Expressing his gratitude, the actor thanked Rana, gave him monetary assistance, and assured his support in the future.
The Incident
Saif was attacked on January 16 by an intruder who broke into his 12th-floor apartment in Bandra during the early hours. The intruder repeatedly stabbed Saif, leaving him with multiple injuries. The actor underwent emergency surgery and has since been recovering.
A Hero’s Gesture
Recalling his interaction with Saif, Rana shared, “He called me to the hospital to thank me for helping him that night. He praised me and introduced me to his mother, Sharmila Tagore. I touched her feet, and she blessed me.”
Rana also explained that Saif gave him some money and promised assistance whenever needed. “It was a privilege to meet such a big star and his family. His mother’s kind words meant a lot to me,” Rana added.
No Hard Feelings
Rana reflected on the night of the attack, saying, “I don’t blame him for not paying me that night. In such situations, safety is all that matters. I just wanted to ensure he reached the hospital in time.”
Suspect in Custody
Meanwhile, authorities have arrested the suspect responsible for the stabbing. Reports suggest the attacker claimed he was unaware of Saif's identity during the assault.
Saif Ali Khan is now back home, recovering under the care of his family.
