In a recent interaction, Mohammed Shami, the seasoned Indian pacer, shared his thoughts on who he considers the best bowler in the Indian team. Contrary to popular opinion, he did not choose Jasprit Bumrah.
During a YouTube chat with Shubhankar Mishra, Shami expressed confidence in his own abilities, stating, “Abhi? Main he manta hoon. (At present? I believe it’s me)." Shami emphasized his belief that he is currently the best Indian bowler.
Shami praised the exceptional bowling unit comprising himself, Bumrah, Ishant Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Umesh Yadav, claiming they enjoyed more success than any other team of bowlers. He mentioned that although he does not believe in rankings, their unit was one of the best ever.
In contrast, former Australian great Brett Lee recently named Jasprit Bumrah as the best bowler in the world across all formats. Lee lauded Bumrah for his consistency and leadership, especially during the T20 World Cup, where he took around 15 wickets with a remarkable economy rate.
“He is the best bowler in all formats right now and leads the attack. Bumrah can maintain an amazing pace while shaping the new ball away. His tournament performance demonstrated his leadership abilities,” Lee said, according to IANS.
Shami’s Explosive Interview
Shami’s interview with Mishra was filled with noteworthy comments. He subtly criticized Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri for dropping him from the ODI World Cup 2019, saying, “I have no answers.” He also addressed Inzamam-ul-Haq’s ball-tampering allegations against Arshdeep Singh, stating, “They'll never be happy for India.”
Shami also discussed rumors about his personal life, specifically regarding his marriage to tennis legend Sania Mirza. He urged people to create memes responsibly and avoid putting others down. “If you understand the rudeness of putting others down, then try helping someone instead. Only then will I believe you are a good person,” he said.
