Mumbai The Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2022-23 takes off on October 7, 2022. The season is back in the stadium after a gap of two seasons.The last season's runner-up Kerala Blasters will host East Bengal FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi.

Hero Indian Super League, India's premier professional football league is organised by Football Sports Development Limited, a joint venture formed by Reliance Industries Ltd and Star India Ltd under the aegis of All India Football Federation.

This season, the Hero ISL fans will have easier access to live matches as the tournament is shifted to weekend-centric games from the match in week three onwards. This season will also feature a new playoff format that will involve the top six teams.

The key dates for the Hero ISL 2022-23 season is, Opening Match on October 7, 2022; Last League Stage Match week is from February 23 – 26, 2023 and Playoffs, Semifinals and Final will be held in March 2023.

Nita Ambani, founder and chairperson, Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) said that the upcoming season of the Hero Indian Super League will be a key milestone for the league and Indian Football. "India's football journey has been a testament to the spirit of the game. With fans back at the stadiums and an extended football calendar, there is excitement and anticipation for the upcoming ISL season."

Featuring 117 football matches, the Hero ISL returns to entertain its fans across 10 venues around the country. For the first time, the ISL league stage will run for nearly five months apart from the playoffs, semi-finals and final. Wherein each club will play 20 league matches – 10 each at home and away through autumn till next spring as the league stage draws to a close on February 26.

"Fans are the heart and soul of football. We are delighted to have fans in the stands cheering for their teams again. Over the last few years, despite the challenges of the pandemic, ISL provided a platform for young talent and digital engagement to fans. Surely this year will see the emergence of more domestic players and top-quality football," Ambani added.
