OpenAI has finally rolled out ChatGPT’s image generation feature to free users, after initially making it available only to paid subscribers. Initially, OpenAI didn’t impose a limit on how many images users could generate. However, due to high demand, restrictions were later introduced to prevent server overload. Altman even mentioned that their GPUs were “melting” from excessive usage.

As of OpenAI’s latest update on X (formerly Twitter), free-tier users can generate up to three images per day.
