Ahmedabad hotel prices skyrocket to Rs 50,000 per night for Coldplay concert
As anticipation builds for Coldplay's upcoming concert at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on January 25, hotel room rates in the city have soared dramatically. Following the band's three performances in Mumbai, their Ahmedabad show has led to a significant spike in accommodation costs, with many hotels charging over Rs 50,000 per night.
Social media users have shared screenshots of the exorbitant prices on platforms like X. One user, Spandana, commented, “No hotel in Ahmedabad for 24-25 January costs less than 50k. Pro tip for people going to Coldplay: stay in Vadodara and commute to Ahmedabad.”
Another user, Priti Jain, highlighted a specific rate, showing a charge of Rs 53,200 per night at a hotel in Ahmedabad.
Mayur Joshi tweeted, “Ahmedabad hotel prices shot up >10x for #coldplayindia 25th Jan concert. All the best to people trying to book - first struggle is getting the tickets from BMS hoping that they don't crash and then getting a hotel room.”
A quick search on MakeMyTrip reveals that most 5-star hotels in Ahmedabad are indeed charging over Rs 50,000 per night (excluding taxes) for the concert date. In contrast, these same hotels typically charge between Rs 6,000 and Rs 20,000 per night on December weekends.
Despite the surge, some rooms are still available at more economical rates, but availability is quickly dwindling as the concert date approaches.
