Kolkata’s Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport has introduced an affordable dining initiative with the launch of the "Udaan Yatri Café." This pilot project, aimed at making food and beverages accessible to all travelers, offers items at significantly lower prices than typical airport outlets.
The café provides essential refreshments at economical rates, including tea and packaged drinking water at Rs 10, samosa and sweet item at Rs 20. Since its inauguration, the café has been attracting over 900 customers daily and reportedly had about 27,000 visitors since it opened.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has indicated plans to extend this initiative to other airports across the country. If the Kolkata pilot project proves successful, similar cafés could soon be established at AAI-operated airports nationwide.
This move is part of broader efforts to enhance passenger amenities and address long-standing concerns about high food prices at airports. By offering affordable options, the Udaan Yatri Café aims to cater to a wide range of travelers, including budget-conscious flyers.
