Simi Garewal, the ex-girlfriend of Ratan Tata, mourns his loss, pens emotional farewell note: 'They say you have gone.'
Industrialist Ratan Tata passed away on Wednesday night at the age of 86. His death has left the nation deeply saddened, with many feeling a personal sense of loss due to his monumental contributions to the Tata Group, his philanthropic work, and his ability to inspire countless lives. Among those mourning his passing is actress and former girlfriend Simi Garewal, who shared a heartfelt farewell.
Garewal took to X (formerly Twitter) to express her grief, writing:
"It’s too hard to bear your loss... too hard... Farewell, my heart... Farewell, my friend... #RatanTata."
For those unfamiliar with their relationship, Simi had previously acknowledged that she and Ratan Tata briefly dated. Although they eventually parted ways, they remained close friends throughout their lives. In a 2011 interview, she described him as a person of incredible character, saying, "Ratan and I go back a long way. He’s perfection. He’s got a sense of humour, is modest, and is the perfect gentleman. Money was never his driving force."
She further added, "He’s not as relaxed in India as he is abroad," hinting at his more laid-back persona outside of his homeland.
Simi also reflected on her bond with Tata in a note on her YouTube channel, stating, "Ratan Tata was my first friend in Mumbai. We had both just returned from abroad, stepping into unfamiliar territory, both on the threshold of an uncharted world. Despite his decades of success, Ratan’s humility and integrity never wavered.”
Ratan Tata had once appeared on Simi’s popular chat show, where he revealed that he had come close to getting married several times but ultimately never did.
