Former Ranji Cricketer: Samarjit Ranjit Sinh Gaikwad
Samarjit Ranjit Sinh Gaikwad, a former Ranji cricketer, hails from Baroda, Gujarat. His net worth is reported to be over Rs 20,000 crore. However, this wealth didn't come from cricket endorsements or sponsorship deals. Samarjit inherited his fortune as the son of Vadodara Maharaja Ranjit Sinh Pratap Gaikwad. After his father’s passing in May 2012, Samarjit was crowned as the Maharaja of Vadodara. As part of his inheritance, he received several valuable properties, including the Lakshmi Vilas Palace, which is considered the largest private residence in the world.
A Palace Bigger Than Buckingham!
Lakshmi Vilas Palace, one of Samarjit's most significant properties, is said to be four times the size of Buckingham Palace. In addition to this grand estate, Samarjit manages 17 temples and trusts across Gujarat and Banaras, and owns several luxury apartments in Mumbai. Interestingly, one of these apartments has been rented to cricket star Virat Kohli and his wife, Anushka Sharma, for several years.
Richer Than Sachin, Dhoni, and Kohli!
According to market estimates, Sachin Tendulkar's net worth is approximately Rs 1,427 crore, while MS Dhoni’s is around Rs 932 crore. Virat Kohli’s wealth is in the same range. However, Samarjit’s fortune, estimated to be over Rs 20,000 crore, makes him richer than all of them, earning him the title of the richest cricketer in India.
