Amid reported incidents related to circulation of fake images using AI, WhatsApp has been working on a solution. Recently, the social media app has introduced a feature that lets users check the authenticity of an image, without letting users leave the app.

Known as ‘Search on web’, the option facilitates a reverse image search using Google Lens. To enable this, tap on the image you want to search on WhatsApp and press the three-dot button on the top right. Though it may not be useful for people, it does not require the user's effort to open the browser, which further involves launching Google Lens and uploading the image. Notably, this feature is restricted only to beta users.

Previously, WhatsApp introduced a new feature that facilitates users to store contact numbers in the app itself. Apart from this, it also enables users to mention others in their status, which is similar to Instagram stories.
