Valve has rolled out Steam Game Recording, a brand-new feature integrated into the Steam client, enabling players to capture and share their gameplay on PC, Mac, and Steam Deck devices. After completing its beta phase, this feature is now fully available.
Steam Game Recording provides both manual and automatic recording options. Manual recording can be triggered using a customizable hotkey. Players can adjust recording length, quality settings, and storage limits through a dedicated Game Recording tab in the Steam settings menu. By default, the feature is turned off, but it can be activated via the settings.
The recording feature is compatible with any game that supports Steam Overlay, including non-Steam titles. To ensure privacy, the recordings capture only the game window, excluding other desktop content. Additionally, it offers basic editing tools, timeline management, and flexible export options. Users can share their recorded content directly through Steam or export it as MP4 files.
This Steam client update also marks the end of support for macOS 10.13 High Sierra and 10.14 Mojave, following Valve's earlier announcement. Steam installations on these systems will no longer receive updates or security patches. However, this change is expected to have a minimal impact as most Mac users have likely upgraded to newer versions.
