TWITTER's first ever tweet by its co-founder Jack Dorsey's "just setting up my twttr' gets the highest bid of $2.5 million (Rs 18.3 crore) on an auction by Sina Estavi, CEO, Bridge Oracle.
Jack listed the tweet for auction on Valuables by Cent, a marketplace for tweets.
The tweet will sell as a Non-Fungible Token (NFT) - a unique digital certificate is given to the buyer with the sign and verification by the creator.
The first tweet will complete 15 years of it posting on the platform on March 21. The tweet may be sold but will be available on the social media platform and everyone can view the tweet as it was before.
The auction got the attention after Jack posted the link on Friday on Twitter, even though it was put up for sale in December and many were sharing the tweet on the platform.
Twitter founders said "Owning any digital content can be a financial investment and holds sentimental value. Like an autograph on a baseball card, the NFT itself is the creator's autograph on the content, making it scarce, unique, and valuable."
