Samsung has begun deploying its One UI 7 update based on Android 15 to select older Galaxy smartphones and tablets, officials said Monday. The rollout marks the company’s latest effort to extend advanced software features to a broader range of its devices.
The update is initially available on key devices, including the Galaxy S24, S24 FE, S23, S23 FE, Galaxy S24 Ultra, and Galaxy S23 Ultra models in the S series. Additionally, the Galaxy Z Fold6, Z Flip6, Z Fold5, and Z Flip5 from the Z series, along with Galaxy Tab S10 and Tab S9 tablets, will receive the new update.
Samsung confirmed that One UI 7 incorporates a suite of AI-driven functionalities designed to enhance user interaction and productivity. The software update introduces features such as AI Select, which allows video clips to be converted into GIFs via a swipe on the Edge Panel, and Writing Assist, which aids in text formatting and summarization in various apps and messages. Drawing Assist and Audio Eraser further expand the creative and multimedia capabilities, offering refined sketch suggestions and the removal of background noise in videos, respectively.
A notable addition is the Now Bar, which provides real-time information such as music status and fitness tracking directly on the lock screen. Integration with Google Gemini is expected to simplify tasks including searching, app navigation, and device control using natural language voice commands.
The new update also features enhancements in settings search functionality and a redesigned lock screen with more informative widgets. Samsung officials anticipate the rollout will gradually reach additional devices in the coming weeks, ensuring that a wider user base can access these improvements.
Users planning to update their devices should verify sufficient battery life and storage availability and perform a full backup before initiating the installation. The update can be accessed by navigating to Settings, selecting Software Update, and following the on-screen prompts.
