Realme has launched the P3 Pro in India, the successor to last year’s P2 Pro. Packed with the new Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset and running on Realme UI 6 (based on Android 15), the P3 Pro brings several upgrades over its predecessor. But how much has actually changed? Let’s compare both models across performance, battery, camera, display, design, and pricing to see if the upgrade is worth it.

Performance and Battery

The Realme P3 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset, a 4nm processor paired with the Adreno 710 GPU. Its predecessor, the P2 Pro, ran on the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, also a 4nm chip, with the same GPU. While both devices support up to 12GB of RAM, the P3 Pro maxes out at 256GB of storage, whereas the P2 Pro offered a higher 512GB storage option.

In terms of battery, the P3 Pro takes a leap forward with a massive 6000mAh battery and 80W fast charging. This is a significant upgrade from the P2 Pro’s 5200mAh battery, which only supported 18W fast charging.

Camera Upgrades (or Downgrades?)

The camera department sees some notable changes. The Realme P3 Pro sports a 50MP main camera paired with a 2MP depth sensor, capable of recording 4K at 30fps and 1080p at up to 120fps, with both EIS and OIS stabilization. The front camera is a 16MP shooter that records 1080p videos at 30fps.

However, the P2 Pro had a more advanced camera setup, featuring a 150MP main sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. The front camera was a higher-resolution 32MP sensor capable of 4K video recording at 30fps. The lack of an ultra-wide camera and a downgraded selfie camera in the P3 Pro might disappoint photography enthusiasts.

Display and Design

The Realme P3 Pro gets a slightly larger 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 1500 nits peak brightness, and 450 PPI. The P2 Pro had a 6.7-inch OLED panel with the same refresh rate but a higher peak brightness of 2000 nits and a lower pixel density of 394 PPI.

Durability sees a major boost with the P3 Pro featuring an aluminium alloy frame, IP68 and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance, and MIL-STD 810H compliance. The P2 Pro had an IP65 rating, offering less protection. The P3 Pro is available in Nebula Glow, Saturn Brown, and Galaxy Purple, while the P2 Pro came in Parrot Green and Eagle Grey.

Pricing in India

The Realme P3 Pro starts at ₹23,999 for the 8GB+128GB variant, with the 12GB+256GB model priced at ₹26,999. In comparison, the Realme P2 Pro launched at ₹21,999 for the 8GB+128GB variant and went up to ₹27,999 for the 12GB+512GB version.

Final Thoughts: Worth the Upgrade?

The Realme P3 Pro brings significant improvements in battery life, durability, and performance. However, it loses the ultra-wide camera and high-resolution selfie shooter from the P2 Pro, which could be a dealbreaker for some. If you prioritize battery, fast charging, and a sturdier build, the P3 Pro is a great upgrade. But if you need better cameras and more storage, the P2 Pro might still be a strong contender.
