Poco M7 vs Poco M7 Pro: Key differences in performance, camera, and features

Poco has launched the Poco M7 in India today, March 3, positioning it as a budget-friendly option below the previously released Poco M7 Pro 5G. If you’re wondering how the two compare, here’s a detailed breakdown of their differences in performance, camera, display, and other key aspects.
Performance: Processor, RAM, and Storage
The Poco M7 is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, while the Poco M7 Pro runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7025 Ultra—a more powerful processor.
Both models start with 6GB of RAM, but the Poco M7 Pro offers more storage options, going up to 256GB, whereas the Poco M7 maxes out at 128GB. The higher-end variants of both phones support 8GB of RAM.
Camera: Comparing the Optics
The Poco M7 features a 50MP wide camera (f/1.8) with 1080p video recording at 30 FPS. For selfies, it has an 8MP front camera, also capable of 1080p video at 30 FPS.
The Poco M7 Pro, on the other hand, boasts a more advanced 50MP wide camera (f/1.5) with optical image stabilization (OIS) for sharper images, along with a 2MP depth sensor. It also has a 20MP front camera, which outperforms the Poco M7’s selfie shooter in resolution.
Display and Design
Poco M7: 6.88-inch IPS LCD display, 120Hz refresh rate, 600 nits peak brightness, and 260 PPI.
Poco M7 Pro: 6.67-inch AMOLED display, 120Hz refresh rate, 395 PPI, and Always-On Display (AOD) support.
Additionally, the Poco M7 Pro comes with an IP64 rating, offering dust and water resistance, while the Poco M7 lacks this feature.
Battery, Software, and Additional Features
The Poco M7 houses a 5,160mAh battery with 18W wired charging, whereas the Poco M7 Pro packs a slightly smaller 5,110mAh battery but supports 45W fast charging, making it a better option for quick power-ups.
For security, both phones come with fingerprint scanners. The Poco M7 has a side-mounted scanner, while the Poco M7 Pro features an under-display optical fingerprint scanner for a more premium feel.
Both devices run on Android 14 with Xiaomi’s HyperOS and are guaranteed to receive two major Android updates.
Final Thoughts
The Poco M7 is an affordable option for those who want a solid budget phone, while the Poco M7 Pro offers a better display, camera system, faster charging, and an upgraded chipset. Your choice depends on whether you prioritize performance and camera quality or affordability.
