MWC 2025: Lenovo Showcases Solar-Powered Concept Laptop

At the Mobile World Congress 2025, Lenovo introduced a range of cutting-edge PC and AI-powered technologies that establish new standards in personal computing. Key highlights included the Yoga Solar PC Concept, an innovative solar-powered laptop, the updated Lenovo Aura Edition in the Yoga series, and laptops with uniquely shaped screens designed for various uses.

“With the announcement of innovations like the Yoga Pro 9i Aura Edition, the IdeaPad Slim 3x, and the Lenovo Yoga Solar PC Concept, Lenovo has introduced a suite of new devices and proof-of-concept technologies designed to empower users. These advancements ensure that creativity remains unbounded by processing constraints, thanks to AI-powered innovation,” wrote Jun Ouyang, Lenovo’s Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Consumer Segment, Intelligent Devices Group, in a press statement.

According to the launch, the Yoga Solar PC Concept incorporates a highly efficient solar panel with an impressive 24% conversion rate, achieved through ‘Back Contact Cell’ technology. This development shifts mounting brackets and gridlines to the back of the cells, optimizing solar absorption. Just 20 minutes of direct sunlight can yield up to one hour of video playback, signifying a major progression in sustainable computing.

On the other hand, the Yoga Pro 9i Aura Edition is a 16-inch powerhouse designed for creators, equipped with an Intel Core Ultra processor and an RTX 5070 GPU. Its PureSight Pro tandem OLED display offers outstanding color precision and visual clarity, enhancing the creative process. As part of Lenovo’s Aura Edition collection, this laptop includes AI-driven functionalities that adapt to user requirements, improving workflows and enhancing productivity.

Additionally, the IdeaPad Slim 3x, a 15-inch laptop, aims to make AI-enhanced computing more widely accessible. In contrast to the concept-stage Yoga Solar PC, both the Yoga Pro 9i Aura Edition and the IdeaPad Slim 3x will soon be available for purchase.

Besides these product launches, Lenovo also presented the ThinkBook Flip Concept, a laptop with a secondary vertical display, along with the Magic Bay accessories, which enable users to connect up to two external screens to their laptops.
