Mega Audino Debuts in Pokémon GO Raids With Special Raid Day Event

In a new addition to Pokémon GO, Mega Audino, a Normal/Fairy-type Pokémon, has been introduced in Mega Raids. Trainers face a tactical challenge as they prepare to exploit its specific vulnerabilities during the Raid Day event.
Mega Audino shows increased damage from Poison and Steel-type moves, receiving 1.6 times the usual hit from these attacks. Moves from Bug, Dark, Dragon, and Ghost-type Pokémon register lower damage, prompting trainers to adapt their counter-strategies accordingly.
Top counters include Pokémon with strong Poison or Steel-type attacks. Options listed by experts include:
- Shadow Metagross: Employs Bullet Punch and Meteor Mash.
- Metagross: Uses the same move set as its Shadow form.
- Nihilego: Relies on Poison Jab and Sludge Bomb.
- Mega Gengar: Combines Sucker Punch with Sludge Bomb.
- Shadow Excadrill: Wields Metal Claw and Iron Head.
- Mega Beedrill: Features Poison Jab and Sludge Bomb.
Trainers are advised to build teams focused on these types and to power up Pokémon to level 35 or above. Weather conditions are also a factor, as cloudy conditions enhance Fairy-type moves, while snowy weather benefits Steel-type attacks. Groups of three to five players are recommended to ensure a smoother encounter.
The Raid Day event for Mega Audino is set for Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. Key event features include:
- An increase in the Remote Raid Pass limit to 20, effective from Friday, April 4 at 5:00 p.m. until Saturday, April 5 at 8:00 p.m. PDT.
- Up to five additional free Raid Passes available from spinning Gym Photo Discs, with a total of six passes for the day.
- A heightened chance to encounter Shiny Audino in Mega Raids.
- A new move, Moonblast, added to Audino’s arsenal, delivering 110 power in Trainer Battles and 130 power in Gyms and Raids.
Upon victory, players may capture Audino in its standard form, with Combat Power (CP) ratings ranging from 901 to 961 in normal conditions and 1127 to 1201 during partly cloudy weather. Successful raids also award Mega Energy, which is crucial for Mega Evolution. An initial requirement of 200 Mega Energy is set for the first evolution, followed by a cost of 40 Mega Energy for subsequent uses.
