Kaynes Technology has inked a deal with the Telangana government to establish a semiconductor plant in the state. This development follows closely on the heels of the domestic electronics manufacturer's Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Karnataka government, where they planned to set up a semiconductor assembly and testing facility (OSAT) in Mysuru.
Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, the chief of Biocon, attributed Karnataka's loss to Bengaluru's infrastructure challenges and notorious traffic issues. She cautioned that unless improvements are made in the Silicon Valley of India, Bengaluru might continue to miss out on lucrative projects, while Hyderabad in Telangana stands to gain. She shared these concerns in a post on X and underscored the need for the Karnataka government to address the capital's infrastructure problems promptly.
Kaynes Technology India Ltd has committed an investment of Rs 2,800 crore in Telangana for the establishment of the semiconductor OSAT facility.
According to an exchange filing, Kaynes Technology entered into an MoU with the Telangana government to set up an Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Testing (OSAT) and Compound Semiconductor manufacturing facility in the state. The proposed facility will be situated in Kongara Kalan, adjacent to Foxconn's upcoming electronics manufacturing facility, as stated in the announcement.
