Two giants. One decision. Vivo is gearing up to unveil its powerful flagship—Vivo X200 Ultra—on April 21 in China, and the buzz is already building. Meanwhile, Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra, which launched earlier in January, continues to dominate the premium smartphone market. But with Vivo bringing serious upgrades, can it steal the spotlight? Here's a side-by-side comparison to help you decide which “Ultra” deserves your attention this year.

Design & Display: Elegance vs Innovation

The Vivo X200 Ultra mirrors the stylish design language of its predecessor, the X200 Pro. Expect flat edges, a quad-curved display, a bold circular camera module, and a brand-new textured rear panel that sets it apart. There's also a mysterious new hardware button, with its function still under wraps.

On the flip side, Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra maintains its iconic glass-and-titanium build with a refined, premium feel. The S-Pen continues to be a strong productivity tool, offering a seamless user experience.

In terms of display, the Vivo X200 Ultra is tipped to sport a 6.82-inch BOE OLED screen, boasting 2K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a jaw-dropping peak brightness of 4500nits. The Galaxy S25 Ultra, meanwhile, features a slightly larger 6.9-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED display, with 2K resolution and 2600nits brightness, also running at 120Hz.

Performance & Battery: Power Meets Endurance

Under the hood, both phones are likely to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Elite processor and pack 12GB RAM, though Vivo may offer additional configurations for improved efficiency. Samsung’s Galaxy AI suite is also more refined, offering highly personalized, on-device AI features for a smoother user experience. Vivo is also said to bring its own AI enhancements to the table, but details are still emerging.

In the battery department, Samsung’s 5000mAh battery with 45W fast charging holds up well, but the charging speeds may feel underwhelming to some. The Vivo X200 Ultra is rumored to pack a massive 6000mAh battery with a blazing-fast 90W charging, possibly giving it a major edge in battery life and refueling time.

Camera: Battle of the Megapixels

Cameras are where both these flagships go all-out.

The Vivo X200 Ultra is expected to come with a triple-camera setup:

50MP main camera (Sony LYT-818, OIS)

50MP ultrawide lens (Sony LYT-818)

200MP periscope telephoto lens (Samsung HP9)

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra sports a quad-camera array:

200MP main sensor (ISOCELL HP2)

50MP ultrawide (ISOCELL JN3)

12MP telephoto (Sony IMX754, 3x optical zoom)

50MP telephoto (Sony IMX854, 5x optical zoom)

While Samsung's camera system is already battle-tested and has impressed users worldwide, Vivo’s combination of high-resolution sensors and advanced optics could make it a serious contender—especially for photography enthusiasts.

Verdict: Which One Should You Buy?

If you're looking for cutting-edge charging speed, a brighter display, and a potentially game-changing camera, the Vivo X200 Ultra might be worth the wait. But if you value refined software, productivity features like the S-Pen, and proven camera performance, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is a strong pick.

Ultimately, both phones cater to different kinds of users—but one thing’s clear: 2025’s battle of the Ultras is going to be epic.
