Elon Musk, the world's wealthiest individual and the owner of the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), has maintained a complex relationship with Apple. Initially, Musk criticized Apple shortly after acquiring X, but he later pointed to Apple's ongoing advertising presence on the platform as evidence that it was a safe space for others as well.
Tim Cook, Apple's CEO, recently shared photos taken with the iPhone 15 Pro Max by renowned photographers Stephen Wilkes and Reuben Wu. Cook praised their work, highlighting that creativity knows no bounds with the iPhone 15 Pro Max. He showcased their stunning images, ranging from the beauty of summer in Rhode Island to the surreal deserts of Utah.
During an interview on CBS' Sunday Morning, Tim Cook discussed Apple's advertising on X, indicating that it's a topic they regularly assess. He mentioned, "It's something we constantly ask ourselves." Cook expressed his appreciation for Twitter as an important platform for discourse, referring to it as a "town square," while also acknowledging certain aspects he's not fond of.
This isn't the first time tensions have arisen between these tech giants. Shortly after Elon Musk assumed control of Twitter in 2022, he accused Apple of discontinuing its advertising on the platform. In a tweet that month, Musk questioned whether Apple was against free speech in America and directed his inquiry to Tim Cook.
Subsequently, Tim Cook invited Musk for a meeting at Apple's Cupertino headquarters, leading to a resolution in which Apple opted to continue advertising on X, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.
