iPhone 17 Rumors: Major display and camera upgrades, plus a potential $2,000 foldable

Excitement is building for the iPhone 17, with rumors swirling about significant upgrades for Apple's upcoming devices. Along with a rumored new design for several iPhone 17 models, there are whispers of enhanced features, including a refreshed display and camera tech. There's even talk of a foldable iPhone, priced at a premium.
According to reliable Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, the iPhone 17 series could see the base model equipped with a 120Hz ProMotion display, a significant upgrade over the 60Hz display of the iPhone 16. This would bring the iPhone 17 in line with the iPhone 16 Pro models and most Android phones, offering smoother animations and scrolling. ProMotion could also adjust the refresh rate to conserve battery life when a high refresh rate isn't necessary, supporting features like Apple's always-on display and StandBy mode.
Gurman has also confirmed that the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will likely feature three 48MP rear cameras, an upgrade over the iPhone 16 Pro’s current 12MP telephoto lens. This aligns with previous reports and adds further weight to the expectation that Apple is improving its camera system for better photography.
Perhaps the most surprising rumor is the anticipated foldable iPhone, set to launch next year. Gurman suggests that it will resemble the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 in design, incorporating some of the iPhone 17 Air’s technologies. While details are scarce, it's believed that the foldable iPhone could retail for around $2,000, though its high price point doesn’t seem to deter Gurman from predicting it could be a commercial success.
While the foldable iPhone remains speculative, the iPhone 17's rumored upgrades appear increasingly likely, and we’ll likely see more official leaks as the launch approaches.
