Infinix is entering the competitive budget gaming smartphone market in India with its new GT 30 Pro model. This device aims to rival established players such as Poco’s X7 Pro and iQOO Neo 10R, both popular choices among mobile gamers. While those phones have earned praise, Infinix hopes to carve out its own space with the GT 30 Pro, a phone loaded with features designed to appeal to gaming enthusiasts and everyday users alike.
The GT 30 Pro follows the GT 20 Pro, which received positive feedback but had room for refinement. Infinix has addressed many of those areas in this successor, improving design, screen quality, performance, and battery life. Notably, the company has kept the price nearly the same. The base version, equipped with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, is priced at Rs 24,999, while the top-tier 12GB RAM/256GB storage model costs Rs 26,999.
Right away, the GT 30 Pro announces its gaming focus through its design. The back panel features angular patterns enhanced by reflective accents. Customizable RGB lighting adds a visual flair, reacting to calls and messages or remaining constantly lit to match user preferences, though this can impact battery life.
The camera module is compact, reducing wobble on flat surfaces. A red ring around the module reinforces the gaming aesthetic. Branding is minimal and tasteful, with a subtle logo placement.
A standout addition is the pair of capacitive shoulder triggers on the phone’s left edge, named GT Triggers. These act like traditional gaming controller buttons and can be mapped to in-game actions such as targeting or shooting in games like BGMI. Although each trigger cannot be assigned separate functions, the feature is a strong value addition for the price. The triggers are responsive mainly in landscape mode, making them practical for gaming.
The GT 30 Pro also includes an infrared (IR) blaster, enabling it to function as a remote control for various household appliances like TVs and air conditioners.
Ergonomically, the device balances its weight evenly and offers flat edges that aid one-handed use despite its large 6.7-inch screen. However, there have been minor quality control concerns reported with the SIM tray.
The GT 30 Pro sports a 6.78-inch screen with a resolution around 1.5K and supports a 144Hz refresh rate with a 160Hz touch sampling rate. It features PWM dimming at 2,304Hz to reduce eye strain and achieves brightness levels up to 4,500 nits, which is impressive for this price bracket. The display is bright and sharp, suitable for gaming as well as media consumption.
Though it supports 144Hz refresh rates, real-world usage reveals that the phone often drops to 120Hz or 90Hz even when the maximum is selected. This is partly due to limited app and game support for higher refresh rates and an adaptive mechanism designed to conserve battery.
Adaptive brightness sometimes reacts slowly when the device wakes from standby but generally performs well under bright light.
The user interface runs on Infinix’s XOS 15 based on Android 15. It is mostly free of ads and bloatware, offering a clean and customizable experience. Features include AI tools for text generation, proofreading, summarizing, and photo editing. A Dynamic Bar, similar in concept to Apple’s Dynamic Island, shows key notifications and system information in a customizable strip at the top of the display.
The GT 30 Pro houses a 108MP primary sensor paired with an 8MP ultra-wide lens. Selfies are captured through a 13MP front camera. While photography is not the phone’s main focus, image quality is respectable given the price. AI enhancements improve sharpness and color balance.
Low-light photography shows some focusing challenges, but the night mode compensates by producing clearer images with steady use. Selfies perform well in good light, though graininess can appear in dim conditions. AI-assisted edits help increase dynamic range and vibrancy. Overall, the cameras provide satisfactory results for users on a budget.
Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Ultimate chipset, the GT 30 Pro offers strong performance for both gaming and everyday tasks. Benchmarks show solid single-core and multi-core scores, surpassing some competitors in the mid-range segment.
During extended testing, including intensive gaming sessions in BGMI on highest settings, the device maintained smooth gameplay with minimal lag and effective haptic feedback.
Battery capacity is 5,500mAh, supporting 45W wired fast charging and 30W wireless charging. Real-world usage with 144Hz refresh and multiple apps running resulted in full-day endurance. Battery drains faster under heavy gaming but charges quickly, reaching 50% in 30 minutes and full charge in around 80 minutes.
The Infinix GT 30 Pro presents a compelling option for gamers and general users seeking a budget smartphone with strong features. It blends gaming-specific hardware like capacitive triggers and a high-refresh-rate display with a clean user interface and capable cameras. While not flawless, particularly with minor hardware issues and adaptive brightness quirks, it delivers excellent value under Rs 25,000.
