The Indian government has issued a vital warning for Microsoft Edge users, advising them to update to version 129.0.2792.79 or later. This alert follows the identification of serious security vulnerabilities that could enable remote attacks, according to the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), part of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

CERT-In has flagged multiple security flaws present in versions of Microsoft Edge released before 129.0.2792.79. These vulnerabilities may allow cybercriminals to circumvent security measures and execute arbitrary code on users' devices. Issues stem from inadequate data validation in Mojo, improper implementations within the V8 JavaScript engine, and integer overflow in the browser’s Layout component. Attackers could exploit these weaknesses by tricking users into visiting malicious sites or opening compromised HTML pages, thereby risking sensitive personal information.

The agency emphasizes that neglecting to patch these vulnerabilities could lead to significant security breaches. Users are strongly urged to update their browsers to the latest version to benefit from essential security patches provided by Microsoft.

As online activities such as banking and social media become increasingly prevalent, ensuring the security of web browsers is more important than ever. While older versions may seem more convenient, the risks associated with using outdated browsers are substantial, particularly with the rise of sophisticated cyber threats.

In addition to updating browsers, CERT-In encourages users to stay informed about security updates and adopt best practices to safeguard personal information online. Being proactive about security measures is essential in defending against potential attacks.
