Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 remains on track for its planned release, according to Take-Two Interactive, the company’s parent organization. During a recent earnings call, Take-Two executives confirmed that the development timeline is progressing as expected, with no significant delays reported.
Despite this, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick acknowledged in an interview with IGN that unforeseen setbacks could still impact the schedule. However, current projections suggest GTA 6 will launch in the fall of this year, potentially around September. Based on past Rockstar releases, a PC version could arrive several years later, possibly in 2027 or 2028. Meanwhile, GameIndustry.biz reports that the company does not plan to include GTA 6 in the Game Pass subscription service at launch.
Rockstar’s first official GTA 6 trailer, released in December last year, confirmed that Vice City will feature prominently in the game. Leaks from 2022 provided additional insight into the game’s characters and world. According to the leaked footage, GTA 6 will introduce two protagonists—Jason and Lucia—marking the first time a female lead will be playable in the franchise. The duo appears to engage in criminal activities together, suggesting a dynamic reminiscent of Bonnie and Clyde.
The game world may extend beyond Vice City, incorporating locations inspired by Florida’s Everglades. Additionally, reports suggest that Rockstar is working with popular content creators from platforms like Roblox, Fortnite, and GTA Online to develop custom experiences, hinting at potential user-generated content within GTA 6’s online mode.
Following the first trailer’s release, speculation about a second preview has intensified. Industry insiders at GTA VI O’Clock suggest that Rockstar will unveil the next trailer in April, based on the company’s history of launching promotional campaigns roughly six months before a game’s release.
Industry analyst Matthew Ball, in a report titled “The State of Video Gaming in 2025,” speculated that GTA 6 could surpass the $100 price mark. However, no official pricing details have been disclosed by Rockstar Games, leaving this prediction uncertain.
