It’s been over a year since the last major update on Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6), when the trailer confirmed the game would be set in Vice City. Since then, fans have been eagerly waiting for news, using everything from the moon to Rockstar goodie bags in hopes of figuring out when the next trailer would drop, but so far, nothing.
As a result, many fans have returned to Grand Theft Auto 5, which has seen a surge in players. In the past few months, the game’s player count on Steam has increased by 40%. In January, GTA 5 reached an average of 128,587 players, one of its best periods ever on Steam, trailing only a few other months in its history.
Other games in the GTA series are also seeing a boost. Grand Theft Auto 4 has had a 74% increase in players, and San Andreas and Vice City—The Definitive Editions—also saw their highest-ever player counts recently.
Fans are clearly craving Grand Theft Auto, but the wait for GTA 6 continues.
