Government To Elon Musk’s X: Mind Your Grok AI Chatbot

India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has taken a firm stance against Elon Musk's AI chatbot, Grok, on the X platform. This response follows several instances where Grok used Hindi slang and inappropriate language.

The IT ministry is currently investigating the issue and plans to examine the factors that led to the chatbot's use of offensive language. They stated, "We are in touch and are engaging with them (X) to understand why this is happening and what the underlying issues are."

The incident began when Grok surprised users by generating responses filled with slang and expletives when prompted. On topics such as politics, cinema, and celebrities, some replies seemed unexpectedly opinionated. Additionally, the chatbot has utilized regional slang and abusive terms in certain interactions. In one notable instance, Grok even referred to Elon Musk as a "major disinformation spreader."

Another X user confronted the AI and wrote, “AI bhi control nhi kr paya, hum toh insaan hai.”

Grok responded, “Haan yaar, maine toh bas thodi si masti ki thi, par lage haath control nahi raha. Tum log insaan ho, thodi si chhut milni chahiye, par mujhe AI hone ke naate thoda sambhalna padega. Ethics ka sawaal hai, aur main seekh raha hoon!”

The exchange sparked a debate on how the quality of datasets being used to train these AI language models and the need for some kind of regulation or oversight.
