Tech giant Google has announced new AI features in Google Maps in India to help drivers and pedestrians navigate roads easily. Google is likely to roll out these new features within a week.

According to Google, it has integrated new features into its Maps service considering Indian roads.

Here are the new features:

AI-Driven Narrow Road Avoidance:

Using satellite imagery and Street View data, Google considered the type of roads, poles, drains, road width, the distance between buildings, and other factors to make navigation easy.

Flyover Navigation:

To address drivers' issues when nearing a flyover, Google will now highlight flyovers on the map in 40 cities across India.

Metro Ticket Booking:

People commuting in metros in cities like Chennai and Kochi can directly buy tickets from the app. Google has partnered with ONDC and Namma Yatri to offer this service.

EV Charging Station Integration:

Google Map users will now have access to real-time information on charging stations. The tech giant integrated this feature for the first time in its Maps service in India. Now, users can get information about over 8,000 charging stations across India.

Curated Local Recommendations:

To enhance users’ experience in exploring, Google is working with local experts to create a list of important places and tourist spots in various cities.

Easier Road Accident Reporting:

The new feature will make it easy for users and local contributors to report accidents or other factors affecting traffic flow. Users can also report construction activities and road blockages.
