Google makes Gemini live’s screen sharing and camera features free for all Android users

Google is expanding access to Gemini Live’s camera and screen-sharing features, making them available to all Android users through the Gemini app. These tools, which were once limited to Gemini Advanced subscribers, are now rolling out for free, marking a major upgrade for the platform’s free-tier users.
What’s New with Gemini Live?
Announcing the update on X, Google shared, “We’ve been hearing great feedback on Gemini Live with camera and screen share, so we decided to bring it to more people. Starting today and over the coming weeks, we're rolling it out to all Android users with the Gemini app.”
With this update, Android users can now:
Share their screen or use their phone’s camera while interacting with Gemini Live.
Ask questions and receive real-time, voice-based guidance.
Record, analyze, and engage in conversations on the go.
Brainstorm ideas, look up information on-screen, and identify objects around them for better situational awareness.
Background
Initially introduced under ‘Project Astra’ during Google I/O 2024, these AI-powered features were first made available to select Pixel 9 and Samsung Galaxy S25 users earlier this month. Now, the rollout extends to a broader Android audience through the Gemini app.
Users can enable this feature via the ‘Share screen with Live’ option within the Gemini app.
