Google lays off hundreds from Android, Pixel, and Chrome teams amid AI shift

Google has let go of hundreds of employees from its Platforms and Devices division — the team behind key products like Android, Pixel smartphones, and the Chrome browser. The move follows a voluntary exit program earlier this year and is part of a broader effort to restructure and stay agile in a fast-changing tech market.

A Google spokesperson confirmed the news, explaining that since merging its Platforms and Devices teams last year, the company has been working to streamline operations and become more nimble.
