The launch in India comes shortly after the country's 2024 general elections. Previously, Google had limited the types of election-related queries Gemini would address, as reported by Moneycontrol in March. Besides India, Gemini is now available in Turkey, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.

The Gemini app allows users to complete various tasks by typing, talking, or adding an image. For example, users can take a picture of a flat tire to receive instructions on how to change it or get help writing a birthday party invitation.

On Android, Gemini can be set as the primary assistant, accessible via the power button, corner swiping on select phones, or the "Hey Google" wake word.

Many voice features available in Google Assistant, such as setting timers, making calls, and setting reminders, will also be accessible through the Gemini app.

Google plans to expand its functionality further, indicating that Gemini will eventually replace Google Assistant. On iOS, users will soon be able to access Gemini directly from the Google app.

Gemini Advanced now features Document Uploads for summarising large documents and emails, and Data Analysis for spreadsheet visualisation.

Privacy is ensured, and Gemini is being integrated into Google Messages for drafting and brainstorming. These updates enhance creativity and productivity for users. More details are at https://gemini.google.com/.
