Google unveiled a special interactive Doodle game to commemorate the final Half Moon of the month. This creative Doodle highlights the halfway point between the new moon and the full moon phases, offering users a fun and educational way to explore the lunar cycle.

The game challenges players to match various phases of the moon, creating full moon pairs, phase pairs, or lunar cycles of three. It also includes a brief introduction about the significance of December's Half Moon before immersing users in the engaging card game challenge.

"This interactive Doodle celebrates December's final Half Moon! Join the celestial card game and test your knowledge of the lunar cycle," Google explained in its description of the game.

The game presents the eight phases of the lunar cycle in order: new moon, waxing crescent, first quarter, waxing gibbous, full moon, waning gibbous, third quarter, and waning crescent. This cycle repeats every 29.5 days.

In addition to the game, Google offers a downloadable "Half Moon Rises" wallpaper on its website. This Doodle follows similar interactive games released in October and November, such as the Rise of the Half Moon series.

To play the Google Doodle Half Moon game, users simply need to visit the Google homepage on their web browser, either on a smartphone or computer. Upon visiting, the Google logo will feature a moon icon that, when clicked, launches the game.

What is a Google Doodle?

A Google Doodle is a special design or theme that temporarily replaces the standard Google logo on the homepage to mark important events, holidays, or notable anniversaries. The first Doodle appeared in 1998 to notify users that Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin were attending the Burning Man festival. Since then, Google has used Doodles to celebrate various occasions, including national holidays, influential people, and historical events. The first interactive game Doodle, a tribute to Pac-Man's 30th anniversary, was released on May 21, 2010.
