Google Workspace Unveils AI-Powered Image Generator in Docs
Google Workspace is integrating a Gemini-powered AI image generator into Google Docs, enabling users to seamlessly create visuals for their documents. Available for paid Workspace accounts with Gemini Business, Enterprise, Education, Education Premium, or Google One AI Premium add-ons, the feature can be accessed via Insert > Image > Help me create an image.
This intuitive tool allows users to describe the desired image, choose art styles such as "Photography" or "Sketch," and select aspect ratios, including square, horizontal, or vertical. It also supports the creation of full-bleed cover images for pageless document layouts.
Powered by Google’s Imagen 3 generator, the tool produces visuals with enhanced lighting, detail, and minimal artefacts. Ideal for creating brochures, flyers, or presentations, it simplifies the design process.
This rollout aligns with the AI-driven design trend in productivity tools following Microsoft’s integration of AI art features in Office products. Additionally, Google Slides users already benefit from Duet AI’s presentation generator.
The feature starts rolling out today for rapid-release schedule domains, with a full rollout for scheduled domains beginning December 16, taking up to 15 days for complete access.
