Garmin users face outage as smartwatches stop working
Garmin is facing backlash from users worldwide after reports surfaced of its smartwatches failing to function properly. Many customers have complained that their devices either freeze on the startup screen or display a persistent blue triangle when turned on.
Among the affected models is the high-end Fenix 8, which retails for nearly £1,000 ($1,200), though the issue appears to impact multiple Garmin devices, including:
Approach Watch
Edge Cycling Computers
Epix Watch
Fenix Watch
Forerunner Watch
Instinct Series Watch
Vivoactive 4 and 5
Venu 3 and 3S
Garmin has acknowledged the problem and advised users to reset their devices. However, the company admits this may not be a permanent fix, suggesting a factory reset as an alternative. Despite these recommendations, some users report that their smartwatches remain non-functional.
Frustrated customers have taken to social media to criticize Garmin’s slow response and lack of clear communication. Absolute Radio DJ Leona Graham was among those who shared footage of the malfunctioning device.
Speculation suggests the issue may stem from a faulty update affecting GPS connectivity, though Garmin has yet to confirm the exact cause. Users are demanding more transparency, with many calling on the company to prioritize resolving the issue.
"These watches aren’t cheap—Garmin needs to take responsibility and provide answers," one customer wrote online.
