Sony launched the PlayStation 5 Pro on November 7, 2024. However, it will not be available in India. Sony India confirmed this in a statement. The reason is a wireless technology issue.

Why PS5 Pro Won’t Be Available in India

The PS5 Pro uses Wi-Fi 7, which operates on the 6GHz frequency band. This band is not allowed for public use in India. The 6GHz band helps achieve faster wireless speeds and lower latency. However, the Indian government has not yet approved its use.

The 6GHz Spectrum Issue

The 6GHz band is in high demand. Telecom companies want it for 5G services. Tech companies want it for Wi-Fi. The Indian government has delayed granting access to this spectrum. Currently, only ISRO can use it.

What Are Indian Gamers' Options?

Sony has not said when the PS5 Pro will be available in India. Indian gamers can buy the PS5 Slim.

They can also wait for discounts on the standard PS5.

Some local stores are importing the PS5 Pro. However, the price is much higher—between ₹85,000 and ₹90,000.

Features of the PS5 Pro

The PS5 Pro has several upgrades. It uses a custom AMD RDNA 3 GPU.

This GPU is 45% faster than the standard PS5's GPU.

It also includes an extra 2GB of DDR5 RAM. It has a 2TB internal SSD.

The PS5 Pro features PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR).

This AI-powered technology improves visuals. It supports 4K resolution at 60 frames per second.

Over 70 games will get PS5 Pro updates, including The Last of Us Part I & II, God of War Ragnarok, and Alan Wake 2.

Indian gamers can choose the PS5 Slim or the standard PS5. They will have to wait for the PS5 Pro.
