PSN down for 18 hours: PlayStation Plus members get free five-day extension

Sony has confirmed that the majority of PSN outage users will automatically get an additional five consecutive days service after an outage worldwide that shut down services on the PlayStation Network (PSN) for about 18 hours during the weekend. In a statement released by the Japanese company that makes electronics and games the company, it was announced that the network services were fully restored following complaints by players and PS users made complaints on social media and other forums.

As per Down detector, an application that tracks service interruptions, close to 8000 gamers from the U.S. and over 7,300 in the U.K. was affected by PSN connectivity issues over the weekend.
