Apple Expands AI Features in iOS 18.4 Update for iPhone

Apple has rolled out the iOS 18.4 update for iPhones, introducing expanded Apple Intelligence capabilities, additional Control Centre options, and new features tailored for the Apple Vision Pro headset. The update broadens AI-powered functionalities to include more languages and provides iPhone users in India direct access to advanced AI tools without requiring a language switch to English (US).

Apple confirmed that iOS 18.4 extends Apple Intelligence features to multiple languages, including English (India, Singapore), Chinese (Simplified), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), and Spanish. This update allows iPhone users in India to access AI-based tools without modifying system language settings.

One of the notable updates in iOS 18.4 is the introduction of Visual Intelligence for iPhone 15 Pro models. Initially launched with the iPhone 16 lineup, this tool leverages Apple Intelligence to analyze and interpret objects, locations, and text in real time. It supports text summarization, language translation, and automatic recognition of phone numbers and email addresses for quick contact additions. Additionally, it enables web-based searches for product identification, math problem-solving, and ChatGPT-powered queries.

iPhone 15 Pro users can activate Visual Intelligence through the Action button or a new Control Centre toggle, similar to its integration with the Camera Control button on the iPhone 16 series.

The iOS 18.4 update introduces an Apple Vision Pro app for iPhone, allowing users to explore, download, and manage Vision Pro applications directly from the App Store. The app also provides recommendations for mixed reality (MR) content, including films, shows, and interactive experiences, along with usage tips and feature highlights.

Apple has added more customization options in the Control Centre with toggles for AI-driven Visual Intelligence and the ability to engage Siri for voice interactions. An Ambient Mode toggle has also been included, enabling background soundscapes for a more immersive experience.

A new Review Summaries feature compiles feedback from multiple user reviews into a consolidated summary, giving prospective app buyers a quick overview without scrolling through individual ratings. Additionally, Apple News+ subscribers can now access recipes from international publishers, categorized for easier browsing.

The Image Playground app has been updated with a new Sketch style, complementing its existing animation and illustration options.
